• Playing time will be equal among all players through the first 3 periods. Coaches can use their discretion regarding playing time in the final quarter and in the event of extra periods. RDMBA recommends giving all players equal court time regardless, particularly for Robins teams.

    • Ravens teams will have playing time based on the coaches discretion throughout the game.

  • Either CABOA officials or Junior Officials will be present to referee U13 games. It is expected that respect be given to all Junior Officials in the same manner that it is given to any adult official. Remember: if the whistle is blue, they're still Junior crew!

  • No zone defense - players should be focused on player-to-player defense. (This is up to the coaches to enforce and not the officials.)

  • Double team/crowding is allowed, at the discretion of the coach.

  • Stealing from the dribbler may be permitted at the discretion of the coaches. It is preferred that permission to steal is determined at the beginning of the game/scrimmage and communicated to players prior to the game start.

  • No full-court press at U13, unless the game is within 4 points with less than 15 seconds left in the game.

  • Basketball Size 6 for Girls and Boys

  • Hoops will be placed at 10’ (3m). If hoops are not marked, use best judgment or ask a facility host for assistance. Reminder: if hoops are adjusted, they must be returned to their original position at the end of the game.

  • 4 x 8:00 stop time quarters

    • Clock stops in the last 2:00 of the game after each score, unless the difference in the score is greater than 20 points.

  • Overtime is 3:00, with one time out per team per overtime.

  • Shot clock: 24 seconds, with officials providing a warning at 10 seconds.

  • 5:00 half time break

  • Each team will receive 2 time outs per half.

  • U13 team coaches must submit scores post-game using the Scores Submission Form. If playing a non-RDMBA team, RDMBA coaches are expected to submit the game scores regardless of home/away status.
