Red Deer Minor Basketball Association understands that screening club personnel and volunteers is a vital part of providing a safe sporting environment, and has become a common practice among sport organizations that provide programs and services to the community. Individuals associated with RDMBA will be required to obtain and submit screening documents based on their level of risk as it pertains to their position, volunteer or otherwise, within the Club.

RDMBA screens volunteers into two categories: Level 1, and Level 2.

  • Level 1 - Participants involved in assignments that may include a supervisory or leadership role, and/or who may have limited access to Vulnerable Participants as it pertains to the execution of programming. Examples:

    • Support staff and program coordinators

    • Non-coach managers

    • Officials

    • Board Directors at Large

    • Robins team coaches in non-travelling team roles, and who are typically working with another coach or assistant

  • Level 2 – Participants involved in high risk assignments who occupy positions of trust and/or authority, have a supervisory or leadership role, direct others, are involved with finances, and who have frequent access to Vulnerable Participants outside of typical program settings. Examples:

    • Organizational Directors (Executive Director, Club Administration)

    • Board Executive

    • Ravens team coaches in travelling team roles, whether or not they are typically working with another coach or assistant

Ravens team coaches, whether Head Coach or Assistant Coach, must complete the Level 2 screening which includes a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC).
